Invaded by Fairies

Last week, my place -normally dedicated to books- has been invaded by good fairies who use the special power they have got to transform old  garments, pieces of clothing, towels, rugs and even sails (they are seaside fairies)... into new fashionable clothes, bags and accessories. They offered me to take part in their action. Being the only man on the spot, I shyly declined the offer. I am able to sew a button back on, but this is my only expertise in the art that was on the agenda.

I have been enchanted by the colours the fairies brought to a rather stern-looking room.

And I have been amazed by the skill and brilliant imagination of the artists.

Old sails are used to make bags :

The event was organised within the European Week for Waste Reduction. Beyond its artictic interest, it was aimed at making people aware of the necessity of developing a new way of consuming. A small step towards sustainability?

What lovely things. I am very impressed by the tidiness of the fairies' sewing tins, mine are just a tangled jumble where one is in danger of getting spiked by a rogue needle if you put your hand in. I had a nice browse on Triskell Factory's website, and am rather intrigued as to what and where your place is...

My place is the Finistere Documentation Centre on Environment, right in the Odet river flooding area. I'm still wondering which documents are worth saving when the Deluge comes...
